Aurora, Regis, East and Springs in Rugby Final 4
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 5/9/2007

The Colorado Youth Rugby Regional Playoffs were held this past weekend at Robert Easton Park in Littleton. The event featured 16 Colorado high school rugby teams competing for the opportunity to advance tothis Saturday's May 12th Colorado State Semi-finals at Greenbrier Park in Ft. Collins.

The four pool winners earning trips to this year's Final Four are Aurora, Denver East, Regis Jesuit, and Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs and East will kickoff at 12:30; Aurora vs. Regis to follow at 1:45.

The winners will advance to the state championship match to be held on May 19th at Shea Stadium in Highlands Ranch.

A number of our esteemed Highlander alumni are amongst those who volunteer their time and services to coach these young men, and the club was well represented on the sidelines at this year's playoffs. Congratulations go to David "Whitey", "Farmer", and Andrew "Turtle" Rendall for leading their Aurora Saracens to the Final Four by winning their two pool matches by the combined scores of 63 - 0. Tom Watson also assists with Semi-finals bound Denver East where his son toils in the backline. Commiserations go to Dave Doessell, Stu Hansen, and Mike Pobar who saw their Defending Colorado State Champion S.W.A.R.M. end up on the wrong end of one of Aurora's shutouts, and to the Hojon's boythat played for the Cherry Creek side.

Win or lose, we'd like to extend our heartiest thanks to all of the Highlanders involved in the CYR for the great job they are doing to build the future of rugby in Colorado.

There is no "I" in TEAM, but there is an "I" in PIE. And there is an "I" in MEAT PIE. MEAT is an anagram of TEAM...
