For you to fully understand this plea you'll need to knowsome background information.
June 12th marked the six year anniversary of the Hi Meadow Fire, a fire that diminished my house to a pile of rubble. May 28th was a reminder of that nightmare. For those of you that didn't hear, a fire was started by the careless acts of a homeowner trying to burn debris off his property. The fire spread and burned an estimated 100 acres, only a mile away from my house.
As a teenager that has watched every fire, been evacuated for most of them and has even been caught in the middle, I only ask one thing, please be responsible. Obey the fire bans and keep your cigarettes in your car. Your actions might not directly affect you but it leaves mountain residents in a constant fear.
Do us all a favor, use the land but don't destroy it.
