Conifer Rotary's unsung community hero
Contributed by: Mike Daniels on 4/10/2008

Because he's "SUCHA" Nice Guy, Conifer High School Assistant Principal, Tim McNerney, was selected as the the recipient of the Conifer Rotary Club's first ever Unsung Community Hero Award (also known as the SUCHA Nice Guy/Gal Award SUCHA=Samaritan Unsung Community Hero Award.)

Tim was selected as a result of nominations received from Conifer Rotary Club members who were asked to think of people in our community who make a difference.

During the selection process it was shared that "Mr. McNerney" was once a highly ranked tennis pro. In addition to his contributions in and out of the classroom and on and off the court, members served up the fact that he has been very active in supporting the Rotary Interact Club for students at Conifer High School. The selection committee then volleyed between candidates and gave the advantage to Mr. McNerney, netting him the award.

The Unsung Community Hero Award was conceived by Conifer club President Ruth Morehouse who envisions the honor to be given twice annually by the club to recognize and honor those from the Conifer/Bailey area who make a positive impact on our community throughout the year, but stay below the radar day to day and are not usually in or seek the spotlight.

The presentation of the engraved plaque to Tim and his wife, Jodi, was made by Conifer Rotary Club Interact Chairperson Steve Browne and Club President Ruth Morehouse. Tim accepted the award with appreciation and stated "It's the community that raises the schools, and the Conifer Rotary Club is invaluable in its support of our school."
