"Thank you for helping us feel so appreciated" and "what a fun and uplifting evening" were comments made by teachers, students and parents at the sixth annual Teacher Appreciation Evening hosted by the Conifer/Evergreen Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on April 17.
Ten
mountain-area
teachers
were nominated by graduating seniors. The seniors picked a favorite teacher (kindergarten through high school) who had especially touched their hearts, helped and encouraged them and/or made a positive impact in their lives.
Students
Mark Challis, Derek Lee, Amanda Lewis, Rochelle Simonsen, and Jeff Bickmore
honored Conifer High School teachers
Paulette McNeill, Phil Vagos, Torrey Carlton, Christine Stricker and Kyle Gillette.
Student
Cassidy Grigg
chose Platte Canyon High School teacher
Kip Otteson.
Students
Hannah McCarty and Zach Mitchell
picked Evergreen High School teachers
Chris Corbo
and
Nick Barbashack
(moved). Student
John O'Shea
chose West Jefferson Middle School teacher
Joe Cushing.
Student
Niels Karford
picked The Little White Schoolhouse kindergarten teacher
Mary Knudsen.
"It was a wonderful program." says Nanc' Adams, local Church public relations representative. "The emphasis of the evening was on how important the teachers are in the lives of children. These dedicated educators teach the values of hard work, honesty and integrity within their curriculum. They touch the hearts of students and leave a positive lasting impression on them. We are grateful to honor such fabulous teachers in our community."
