Run the Rock 5k mountain race
Contributed by: Robert Potrykus on 5/30/2008

Register now for Run the Rock- A new mountain 5k challenge for runners.

Register for Run the Rock ' 5k Race, a new mountain trail run recently certified by USA Track and Field. This is not your common asphalt run. Rather, 'Run the Rock' is one of the few USATF Certified 'All Trail' runs in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The course takes the runner on beautiful and challenging jeep trails at elevations of 8100 to 8400 ft., through the pines and aspens at Beaver Ranch Open Space Park in Conifer, Colorado, just minutes from the Denver Metroplex.

Entries will be limited to 400 runners and registration costs are currently at a discount (prices will increase in July). The Race will be held on August 16 (9:00 am start). There will also be a ½ mile free Family Fun Run. Proceeds will benefit the Mountain Resource Center (located in Conifer) which served over 9,000 mountain area residents in 2007 with family and crisis services, early childhood family education, youth services, care in the case of domestic violence and volunteer services.

The event will also include awards and prizes, live music and beverages, free baby-sitting and a post-race disc golf tournament on the new golf course at Beaver Ranch. As part of registration, runners receive a very cool T-shirt that exclaims: "I Ran the ROCK!"

Visit the website for all event information, registration and for the course map....www.rock5k.com or call Race Director Bob Potrykus (Red Stag Productions, LLC) at 720-261-0860.
