Bring Your Camera to This Great Quilt Show!
Contributed by: Dusty Darrah on 7/17/2008

This Friday, July 18 is the opening day of Firehouse Quilts annual fundraising quilt show. I can honestly tell you that this is going to be the biggest and best ever! A lot of hard work has been poured into planning and organizing by a lot of volunteers and you are just going to be blown away at every little detail. Bring your cameras!

Come to the show as your way of supporting Firehouse Quilts, (bring friends) and enjoy the beauty of our new facility (Cherry Hills Community Church) and marvel at the creativity of all those that entered their quilts in our show! Winners are receiving great prizes including sewing machines, weekend for 2 at a Bailey, CO Bed & Breakfast, gift baskets and/or ribbons, musicians on stage will serenade you while viewing the quilts and there are more vendors than ever before. Since we outgrew our old venue, we've expanded even more to fill this spacious church in Highlands Ranch.

We opened a new category for art quilts this year and were flooded with 14 entries in that category alone. As you can imagine, the judges had quite a time deciding winners in all categories but you will like their choices. We believe our quilt show 'program' has always shone brighter than others we've seen but just wait until you see it this year! It is packed with all kinds of information and the pictures are great!

Apple Cider (our logo dog) will be available for pictures 1p-3p each day in the vendor hall, our famous Bed Turning will occur every hour (at 20 minutes past the hour) both days. There are plenty of comfy chairs placed all over the building for relaxing and enjoying the view. Wild Blue, the on-site café, will have food and drink available that you can enjoy in the café or take outdoors on the patio to view the front range mountains from a relaxing rocking chair. Whew, what a sight!

Don't forget that Jeananne Wright is scheduling quilt appraisals in advance of the show so if you have a quilt you'd like to have appraised, call her as soon as possible to get on her schedule. (303-772-7684) For more info and prices, click http://www.firehousequilts.org/Appraisals-JeananneWright.htm

After spending all Friday morning (July 18) setting up the vendors and hanging the quilts, the show opens to the public from noon to 8pm the first day. Saturday, July 19, we're open from 10am-4pm. Presentation of awards and pictures of the winners will take place Saturday between 3pm-4pm. Entrants in the quilt show will wait in Wild Blue Cafe or on the outdoor patio until Firehouse Quilts volunteers remove all the quilts from the racks after closing the show Saturday at 4pm.

ADMISSION: $7 at the door (allows free re-entry on Saturday, July 19!)

Please share this with anyone you think might be interested in seeing 110 quilts displayed in a beautiful, bright indoor setting that range from vintage/antique quilts to the most modern and unique art quilts.

Hope to see you all there!
