Nat Carter was on his way to India; I was on my way to Unity Village to enter Ministerial school at Unity School of Religious Studies in Lee's Summit , MO just outside of Kansas City. Nat decided to stop at Unity Village for some classes and he decided to stay for a while and begin teaching Yoga classes. On a very sunny day in July of 1981, I went toNat's famous Greet the Sun Yoga class and I was enthralled by him, his class and felt I had met my true love. We went for a walk and decided to have coffee.
One thing led to another, and he wound up also applying to Ministerial school. We spent 2 wonderful years together...............just having fun, going on hikes, canoeing and getting to know each other while in school together. Though, we were students and thus did not have a lot of money, we really enjoyed just being with each other, talking, philosophizing and exploring Kansas City.
When it came time to graduate, Nat knew he did not want to take a church without me by his side, so we graduated on June 13th 1986, we married on June 14th, 1986 and we were in our first church serving as Co-ministers in Kent WAshington(just out of Seattle) within one month. We did take time to go on a romantic camping and canoe trip before we left Mo.
WE have now served churches in Washington (3 of them), Michigan, Missouri and have been back in Colorado for 4 years serving the Unity Church of Denver together. We have 2 sons, our beautiful and handsome 17 year old who wants to be an actor and is an avid snow boarder and our canine son, a 12 year old Golden Retriever who has changed his breed to : Colorado Mountain Dog.
We have weathered many challenges and are still able to work and play together. We teach coupleship workshops, still talk and philosphize and our best thing we do is dance at the Mercury cafe and learn the swing under the expert tutelage of Dan and Tiffany, national champs at swing dancing.
We love being home in Colorado and plan to do our 2nd fourteener this summer along with lots of water skiing, hiking and picnicking. We have learend how to be a happy couple and most days we practice what we have learned.
