Kathryn Dawson, with Sheridan Travel Service of Lakewood, recently won a national window display competition with her handpainted mural, " Travel to the Heart of Europe." In the national competition hosted by Royal Caribbean Cruiseline, creativity was the premise. The popular Belmar area agency was awarded an exciting cruise for two!

The mural depicts many of the popular sights of the countries visited on one of their European cruises. Travelers approach the window and feel as they are standing on the bow of a ship, complete with wooden planking, railings, and lights! By day the mural has a warm glow of sunrise that lures visitors toward it. Interestingly, by night the mural comes live with lights and neon paint touches to resemble the city of light! Kathy is widely recognized for her original watercolors and murals painted atop sheet music, maps, blueprints, souvenirs and foreign currency. She has created a unique collage to her paintings called malorographies!
