Cornelia Peterson of Conifer High School won the national Gold Art Award in photography for her piece titled "The Barrio" by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Program.

Since 1923 this competition has proven to be a lifetime highlight for students as it allows for creative latitude in 14 visual arts and 11 writing categories. Scholarships ranging in value between $500 and $30,000 are awarded to Colorado senior high students.

Cornelia will be honored at a special ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City this summer.
