Conifer High cheers practice all summer
Contributed by: YourHub.com on 7/24/2008

The Conifer High School varsity cheer team, coached by Tehra Porterfield, of Thornton, was out early July 24 at the school field.

Porterfield said, "I love cheers. These are a bunch of good kids."

She said she used to be a cheer in college at Metro State University in Denver.
Now she works as a fitness specialist at Northglenn Recreation Center.

Deb Lawson, mother of sophomore Sarah, said "They've been practicing all summer. Their first official performance will be at the fall sports kickoff and barbecue Aug. 15.

"Cheerleading is not just looking cute in a skirt. These girls work very hard, they are athletes," Lawson said.
