Evergreen-Conifer

TOILETS SMASHED IN CONIFER
On Dec. 7 at 1:13 a.m., a deputy contacted a 49-year-old homeowner who said the toilets at his rental property in Conifer had been vandalized, resulting in water damage. He said sometime between 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 p.m. Dec. 7 someone entered the home and smashed the water tanks on the toilets. The deputy noted the toilets had cracked water tanks and the plumber who came said the water damage was not caused by frozen pipes and the tanks had similar impact marks. The owner said the residence had been vacant since September and had no idea who had done the vandalism. The case is under investigation.

STARGAZING LEADS TO ARREST
Dec.12 at 7:14 p.m., a deputy contacted a 41-year-old woman who was parked in the parking lot of Myers Ranch Open Space because open space lands close one hour before sunset. The woman said she and her male passenger (33-year-old) were "just looking at the stars." A check showed the man had an active warrant out of Westminster for failure to appear for possession of dangerous drugs. He said he was aware of the drug charge, but unaware of the warrant. He was taken to jail.

MAN PULLS OFF ROAD TO PRACTICE ELK BUGLE
Oct. 2 at 5:50 p.m. 52- year-old woman called about an incident that happened at 11 p.m. on Oct. 1 when her friend saw a pickup in the driveway of the woman's property on the 26000 block of Richmond Hill Roa in Conifer.. The woman said she has No Trespassing signs posted and wanted to pursue charges against whoever was in the truck. The friend said he saw the pickup in the driveway and pulled into the drive to write down the license plate number, when the driver of the truck put the left turn signal on and turned onto Shiloh Road. The owner of the truck was contacted by deputies and said he was on his way home from work and pulled over to practice his elk bugle by the meadow because that is usually where the elk are. No action was taken.

SLEEPING IN PARK AFTER CONCERT A NO-NO
A couple who said they wanted to sleep at the Flying J Ranch Park at 9449 County Road 73 in Evergreen on Sept. 30 at 1:46 a.m. were told by deputies that camping in the park was not allowed. The 20-year-old man said he and his 42-year-old female companion had been to a concert at Red Rocks and wanted to sleep before they drove home to Crested Butte. The man had a revoked license and was given a summons for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and unlawful conduct on public property. because he had a revoked license. The woman was given a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.

WOMEN'S UNDERWEAR, DOUGHY SUBSTANCE LEFT IN PARK
A blue jean skirt, knee-high black patent leather boots, purple women's underwear, a woman's gold tank top and a doughy substance were among items at the base of a group of pine trees at Cub Creek Park on at the 6000 block of Colorado 73 that aroused the suspicion of a man who lived on the 28000 block of Tresine Drive in Evergreen. The man reported the items and a deputy followed him at 8:35 a.m. July 7 to the park. In addition to the clothing, there were several plastic Safeway bags and a big black plastic bag, which contained a large black bra, a brown wig, sunglasses, make-up powder, purple lipstick and another bag with a doughy substance inside. The report said the substance may have used to simulate breasts. The items were collected, photographed and placed in the evidence vault at the mountain substation.

JUST DRIVING AROUND TO SMOKE A BOWL
According to a report, a 19-year-old driver and his two passengers were stopped in Bergen Park after trying to elude a marked patrol car July 6 at 1:03 a.m. in Evergreen. When asked where they were coming from, all three had a different story. The driver said, "It's complicated," before the deputy inquired about the aroma of suspected marijuana. The report said when asked again about what they were doing, the driver said, "We were just driving around so they could smoke a bowl." The driver was given a summons for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

DOORS DAMAGED AT cONIFER HIGH
On a routine check at Conifer High School at 10441 County Road 73, a deputy spoke to the custodian, who said when she arrived at 6 a.m. May 14 she found a key broken off in the lock at the gate and unknown substances in several locks of exterior doors. The report said 12 locks had quarters glued over them. After a search of the building, the deputy discovered the power box for the weight room was damaged. The locks were cleaned at an estimated cost of $400 to $700 and the cost of the power box replacement was estimated at $300 to $500. The report said the video surveillance system showed three males doing something at the back of the building at at 12:34 a.m. Because they were wearing dark hoodies, no clear identification could be made, the report said. The case is under investigation.

NO TIME FOR A PIT STOP
A Jefferson County sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a home on the 12000 block of West Berry Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. April 12 on a report of a stolen motorcycle. According to reports, a man at the address told the deputy that he was loading the bike onto the back of his truck to have it serviced. He had walked the bike around to the front of the house, according to reports. He went into the house to use the bathroom and when he returned the bike was gone, according to reports. The motorcycle was reported as stolen, according to reports.

SOMETHING SMELLY IN MAILBOX
At about 5:21 p.m. Feb. 26, a deputy was dispatched to the 13000 block of Lori Drive and spoke to a 52-year-old Conifer man who said that between the hours of 9 a.m. Feb. 25 and 9 a.m. Feb. 26, someone had placed "very smelly mustard covered sardines" inside his mailbox, and inside the mailboxes of three of his neighbors, according to a report. The man said someone had sprayed some type of shaving cream on all the mailboxes, and that there was no damage, the report said. The man said on a prior occasion, someone had put raw fish in the same four mailboxes, and he presumed the same people were responsible for the sardine attack, the report said. The man said he would prosecute if suspects were identified.

TRUCK STOLEN
A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy responded to a theft of a truck at 12:13 a.m. at Bowles Crossing Theater, 8055 West Bowles Avenue, on Dec. 23. A woman told a Sheriff's deputy she parked her gold 2003 Explorer in the parking lot at about 9 p.m. and when she returned after seeing a movie it was gone. The woman told the deputy there were a child seat and about 30 CD's in the truck. Jeffco Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.

ROAD RAGE INCIDENT REPORTED
A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy responded to a report of road rage at about 11:15 a.m. Dec. 31 at a Sinclair gas station at the intersection of U.S. 73 and Kitty Drive. The driver of Toyota Scion told dispatch that a man in a silver Dodge truck had pulled a gun on him and threatened to kill him. The caller said he did not want to stay at the gas station and was driving to Denver. A deputy spoke to the driver of the truck who told him the Scion was blocking traffic on U.S. 285, and when he went to pass the Scion , the driver swerved into his lane, cutting him off. The man said the driver of the Scion continued to drive erratically, almost causing several accidents. The driver of the truck said he pulled off the highway and the Scion followed him and when he stopped at a light, the driver of the Scion got out of his car and approached him. The driver of the truck told the man to get back in his car and drove off. A short time later the driver of the truck pulled into the gas station, and the driver of the Scion approached the truck again. The driver of the truck took a handgun out of the center console of his truck and held the gun by his leg. The driver of the Scion noticed the gun, and told the driver to "Go ahead shoot me, put a bullet in me." A female passenger in the Scion got out and dragged the driver back to his car and they sped off. The deputy confirmed the story with a witness and attempted to call the driver of the Scion, but he could not get through.

MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT
A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy pulled a car over at 6:27 a.m. Dec. 21 at the intersection of U.S. 285 and Settlers Drive for having expired license plates. The deputy determined the driver's license had been suspended and that the passenger was wanted on a warrant from Littleton. Deputies arrested the passenger and gave the driver a ride to a local gas station to call for a ride home.
