Sheriff blotter: Spray painter caught

SPRAY PAINT ARTIST LEAVES FOOTPRINTS
On Jan 16 at 2:22 a.m., a deputy was driving northbound on South Alkire Street in Morrison when he observed fresh tire tracks in the snow lead from South Alkire to West Grand Place near a new construction area. He found a parked Nissan Pathfinder with no one inside. From the vehicle, he followed fresh shoe prints to a storage building that had been spray painted. A camouflage bag, two spray-paint cans and a glove lay on top of a wood pallet nearby. The storage unit had been sprayed to read 'BEHOLD.' He radioed to deputies on South Alkire Street and they apprehended a 26-year-old man in the backyard of a residence at 2:51 a.m. The first deputy called the man's 59-year-old father and asked for consent to search the Nissan. The father consented by phone and came to the location. A search of the car revealed spray-paint cans and templates. The father arrived at 3:42 a.m. His son had dried white paint on his knuckles and paint on his clothes. He was issued a summons for defacing property and released to his father.
