ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME THEFT
A deputy went to King Soopers, 25637 Conifer Road on Jan. 20 at 11:41 a.m. and spoke to the store security officer who said while he was watching the surveillance cameras, he saw a woman select an item and conceal it in her bag. He watched her go through the self-checkout aisle and pay for some items, but not the one in her bag. When he confronted her outside the store and asked if she knew why she was being stopped, she said, "I took some items." The officer found merchandise in her bag she did not paid for. The deputy gave her a summons for theft and told her King Soopers is not a good place to steal from because of their surveillance system She said, "Well, everyone should get caught at least once in their life."
CAR ROBBED AT RTD LOT
A CD player, 50 heavy metal CDs and a Jensen Amplifier were stolen from a Mazda Protege parked at the RTD Park-n-Ride in Bergen Park on Feb. 1. The report said deputies met with the owner of the car and his carpool partner. They parked in the lot at 6 a.m. and returned at 4:35 p.m. W routine query revealed one of the men had two outstanding warrants and he was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. The other man was given the case report number.\
WOMAN FELT THREATENED
A deputy contacted a 47-year-old woman by phone on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. to discuss a situation involving an employee of the Indian Hills Equestrian Center The woman said she went there earlier to check on her horses and was on edge because she had filed a complaint previously because the wells were frozen and the horses needed water. When she encountered the 23-year-old caretaker he was waving a pistol and she felt threatened and thought the man was trying to intimidate her. When asked about the scenario later, the man said he had no intent to threaten the woman.
GOAT WANTS A RIDE
A deputy responded to a livestock problem call on Feb. 3 at 5:08 p.m. on the 12000 block of U.S. 285 in Conifer. While talking to the homeowner, the deputy saw a goat walking around. The homeowner said it wasn't hers. Animal control was contacted and they advised the homeowner to call the next day if the goat was still there. The goat jummped on the hood of the partrol car and left scratches. When the deputy was departing, the goat followed the vehicle and ran in front of the car forcing the deputy to stop, which prompted another leap to the hood of the car. The deputy reported several scratches were left on the car as a result of the encounter.
