DRIVER GOING 103 MPH ON I-70
On March 21 at 12:19 p.m., a deputy on speed patrol at Interstate 70 at mile marker 249 in Evergreen clocked a driver going 103 mph in a 65-mile-per-hour zone. The deputy activated his emergency lights and followed the driver for almost two miles before he stopped. The 21-year-old driver presented a driver's license from the Republic of Chile and his passport. He was driving a rental car. When asked why he didn't pull over immediately, the man said, "I did not know you were following me." The man was given a summons for reckless driving and told he would have to appear in court in May. When he heard this, the man said he was returning to Chile March 26. The deputy explained if he didn't make his court appearance it would jeopardize any applications for a visa he might make in the future. He agreed to call the courts about the summons.
CALF REPORTED STOLEN FROM CONIFER STALL
A 20-year-old woman met a deputy at 8:55 a.m. at Pine Country Feeds in Conifer. She said a calf she owned that was born March 13 was missing from the stall where she boarded it at Rohan Farms. She checked the property and notified other boarders. There were no hoof prints in the mud. She said the calf had two ear tags numbers 84 and right ear with its birth-date. The calf weighs 90 pounds and is black and white.
CONIFER NEIGHBOR'S DISPUTE
A woman called the sheriff March 22 at 10:06 a.m. about a dispute she had with a neighbor. She said her neighbor walked his dog off leash but would put his dog on a leash when he got to her driveway, then take the leash off after he passed her residence. She said when she came home from her walk with her dog that night there was a call from a toll-free number with a voice message that said, "Well you seen me Buddy." She thought it came from her neighbor. Because she didn't know for sure if it was her neighbor, the deputy said he would set up extra patrol in the area.
