Permit reservations begin August 11
The 2008 Jefferson County Open Space Fuel Wood Sale will accept reservations beginning Monday, August 11. Forest management activities at MountFalconPark in Indian Hills have produced decks of timber that will be sold to the public by the following process:
How To Participate in the Open Space Fuel Wood Sale:
1. Contact the Open Space Administrative Office (303-271-5925) to ask questions and make a wood pick-up reservation beginning Monday, August 11. You may telephone or come by the office during regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to make a reservation (map to Open Space Administration Office, 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Suite #100 in Golden) Reservations will be made for two-hour blocks of time on either Saturday or Sunday beginning September 6 and 7. Reservations for future wood pickup weekends will be made week to week as supplies last. Once a reservation has been made, you will pay for your permit/s at wood pickup. Directions to the pick up site will be provided when you make your reservation.
2. Plan for wood pickup at your reserved time. Have your own chainsaw or saws, fuel, appropriate tie-downs or covers and a truck/trailer. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended.
3. Have
check or cashready to hand to Open Space staff when you pick-up your wood. Pricing is based on the size of vehicle removing wood. Only cash and personal checks will be accepted for fuel wood permits.
- Mid-size trucks: $20
- Full Size Truck: $25
- Trailers (maximum 16 ft.) and Larger Trucks based on size.
- Subsequent permits are $10 each,a maximum offour permits allowed per person.
4. Cut to length your fuel wood and load into your vehicles.
Permit holdersmust bring their own chainsaw and cut and load the wood themselves. JCOS is not responsible for equipment or vehicle damage incurred while gathering firewood.Call our Fuel wood Hotline at 303-271-5965 for updated information.
MountFalconPark consists of 2,248 acres west of Colorado Highway 8 and north of US Highway 285. The majority of the park was acquired in 1974 with one-half of one-percent Open Space Sales Tax Funds approved by JeffersonCounty voters in 1972.
