My Teacher My Hero honors south Jeffco teachers

August 26,2008, Lakewood, CO ~ Southwest Plaza will host the 6th annual My Teacher My Hero event on Saturday, September 13, 2008 beginning at 11:30. The Jefferson Foundation, Columbine Courier, and the Spicy Pickle at Southwest Plaza are sponsors of the celebration.

"My Teacher My Hero was established to honor Jeffco educators who excel beyond what is expected, and truly make a difference in the lives of their students," said Mona Sandoval, Executive Director of The Jefferson Foundation. "These three individuals represent all Jeffco teachers. They are our community's 'everyday heroes.'"

Nominated by their principals and selected at random, the 2008 Honorees' biographies are at www.jeffersonfoundation.org.They are:

Sally Santangelo, 4th Grade, Kendallvue Elementary,

Steve Martin, Instrumental Music, Falcon Bluffs,

Greg Manier, Biology, ConiferHigh School.

The awards ceremony will follow a performance by Dakota Ridge High School's Concert Choir, under the direction of Greg Monsma. Dr. Cindy Stevenson, Superintendent of Jeffco Public Schools, will present the honorees.
