Learn About Colorado Ballot Issues Oct. 11th
Contributed by: Sondra Singer on 10/6/2008

Join the Jefferson County Democrats for their Second Saturday Breakfast Forum on October 11, 2008. This very timely forum will cover the ballot issues on this November's ballot!

- The forum will start with two representatives, David Porter and Susan Liddle, from The Colorado Legislative Council. This non-partisan department researches and publishes the "Blue Book" that many of us use to weigh the pros and cons of ballot initiatives.

Then, the remaining time will be divided between the following issues:

- Yes on Amendment 58, the Severance Tax Amendment, which seems to be the lightening rod for the oil industry. From A Smarter Colorado, Senator Ken Gordon will speak.

- All of the Labor oriented amendments and initiatives will be covered by Phuonglan Nguyen from FRESC.org

- Erin Fair from Protect Families Protect Choice (Vote No on Amendment 48) will also speak. This amendment is otherwise known as the Personhood Amendment.

- Colorado SAFE, the Vote Yes on Amendment 59 organization, will be discussed by House District 26 Representative, Andy Kerr.

This will take place at the American Legion at 16th and Simms, starting the social hour at 8:30am with breakfast for $10 at 9:00am. Presentation begins at 9:15am.

RSVP at Jeffco Dems: 303-237-1359.
