As Monday night settled over the foothills there was no rest for candidate
Andrew Scripter as he hosted a coffee to listen to the concerns of voters at Java Groove in Evergreen. From 7 to 9 p.m. members of the Evergreen community and surrounding areas could come and express their opinions and ideas. The Scripter campaign has been hosting these events around the district since April. "We have been to Evergreen, Kittredge, Arvada, Conifer, Pine, and everywhere in between," said Andrew, "I just really want to give the voters a platform to express their ideas. That is what representative democracy is about."
Andrew was joined by Libertarian Candidate
Jack Woehr, who also shared his ideas for better government. Woehr, is clearly a very intelligent man with many good ideas for how we can return the principles of the constitution back to the United States. While it might seem strange to give one of his opponents a platform at one of his events Andrew feels this is what politics should really be about. "Jack is a committed public servant, and his ideas push the conversation forward. I consider him my friend and he deserves a public forum to share his views," said Andrew.
The conversation varied from federal issues to local issues on the ballot this fall, but it was very refreshing to see people discussing politics in a civilized manner. "When you look at the political discourse that is on display at the presidential level it can be very hateful," said local Evergreen resident
Sharon Wallace, "I am grateful to Andrew Scripter that he can host an event where we can treat each other with respect."
