Pine artist contributes to historical past!
Contributed by: Kathryn Dawson on 9/14/2007

Kathryn Dawson, born from a family of artists and woodcarvers, has taken her unique paintings to a new level. She uses her souvenirs and keepsakes from her extensive travels in her distinctive pieces.

In addition, she graciously donates a portion of the proceeds from her creative paintings for monuments and landmarks such as St. Peters, The Eiffel Tower, World Trade Center, a number of European Castles, and various other memorials which benefit victims, education and renovation projects.

Kathy's innate talent has been honed while living in Munich and studying the masters in the streets of Munich, Prague, Salzburg, Venice, and Paris.

At the heart of all my creations lies handpainted watercolor, printmaking,

collage and photography. Firstly, I paint the original on such medium as

sheet music, maps, blueprints, or enlarged foreign currency.

Utilizing the original, and a digital positive, and a variety of antiquated souvenirs,

I print my own etchings in my studio. I use a technique called

"Malorography."

Kathy is also widely recognized for her original murals and faux finishes, displayed throughout Europe and the United States. The Buell Mansion still houses her mural of the old Paris Opera House, painted atop french blueprints, complete with the Phantom's hidden mask! Her most notorious works have been commended yearly in the Colorado Homes and Lifestyles Magazine.
