Platte Canyon baseball cares
Contributed by: Karl Kupser on 3/27/2007

Platte Canyon Little League Baseball

We have approximately 25 coaches including myself and I also am the umpire and chief (just another title) for the Platte Canyon Little League and am always looking for help at our games.

As for adding the coaches names I do not have all of them but can get them if you would like to add them in my fear is I will forget someone and I will hear about it. The photo's I do not have any consent forms from the parents so that rules that out and before I posted them I would want that item in hand.

As for contributions as we all know they come in many different forms such as:

Coaches

Assistant Coaches

Umpires (paid position)

Board Members

Score Keepers

Concession Stand Operators

Field Maintenance or grounds people (specific trades willing to donate their time)

People with knowledge of the game

Kids to participate in the game (fees required)

Baseball Donations (i.e. gear, balls, baseball cards for drawings, bats, batting helmets or money)

Grant writers (places to turn for funding)

We are also trying to get funds for build buildings such as for our restrooms in place of the sani-cans we currently use, a well for water, ramps for the disabled, field upgrades, equipment for maintaining our fields, grass, taller fences, painting the flag pole, parking lot upgrades, lighting, and many more items.

We are always in need of funds to help promote our program as well as to purchase gear for all of our Little League Players. We help approximately 250 area kids and can always make room for more provided we have some parents or adult leaders step up. It is a non-paying position but very rewarding once you see that child get his first hit, homerun, or when the light just goes on about the game.

Now I feel as though I am begging. I just want the program that works with such limited funds to be able to continue to reach out and help our community. Our Board of Directors does a wonderful job implementing the rules and regulations and continues to put in countless hours for the growth of our kids and sometimes it is a thankless job but each and everyone of them know they are helping our youth development and I would like to be the first to thank each and everyone of them.

Annette Schmoker is our current President and she has been instrumental in the League's success, in Park County, over the past four (4) years with her continued devotion to not only the kids but the game of baseball.

She has had to wear many hats since the time I have got to know her and she has done a wonderful job regulating the league and orchestrating the umpires and continued to dredge forward when no one would step forward to help. We have had others step also but I think she has done the job that gets even less praise than deserved.

We here at Platte Canyon Little League know that we are doing this for the kids and knowing this makes it much easier to get to the practices, games, meetings and work events that are all voluntary but required for a successful program. We want our community to say "I am glad this program has been successful for my kids, family and community".

Parent, Coach, Umpire, Mentor, as so many others thank you, Karl Kupser
