PCHS students raising funds for new sound system

A group of musically inclined students from Platte Canyon High School has gotten together with help from teachers
Kip Otteson
and
Jesse Walters
to try to raise money for a new sound system in the high school auditorium.
They have been sponsoring concerts and open mike nights as well as applying for grants. They recently had
Trace Bundy
play guitar which we all thoroughly enjoyed!!
As most people know it has been a difficult year at our school. Counselors working with the school have stressed that it is important for our students to keep up active social lives as part of the healing process.
As anyone who is familiar with Bailey knows, there aren't a lot of places for our teens to go to socialize. If the students are successful at raising the funds, they hope to be able to put on concerts at school as well as show movies.
I think this would be a great asset to our students (and the whole community) and give them a safe place to go for social activities. It would be great if the Denver Post could help them make their dreams come true!! I believe their funds are being handled through the Platte Canyon Education Foundation. The phone number at the high school is 303-838-4642

I know there aren't a lot of venues for activities like this plus it would benefit the middle and elementary schools, a great idea.
