An invite to Conifer Booster meeting
Contributed by: Mary Hastings on 5/2/2007

Dear Friends of Conifer High School,

On behalf of the board of directors of the all-new Conifer Lobos Unified Boosters (C.L.U.B.), I am extending an invitation for you to join the C.L.U.B. and help us build a strong, supportive community for our student athletes and the entire Conifer-area. We need your help to succeed.

Please plan to join us for our membership kick-off meeting from 7-8:30 p.m., May 16 in the CHS cafeteria.

Keeping youth fit and busy in constructive pursuits is a community responsibility and has never been more important than it is now. The obesity rate for youth in this country has reached epidemic proportions and school violence is on the rise.

In an effort to build a cohesive sports booster program at Conifer High School to keep teens involved in healthy, constructive activities, Athletic Director Jeff Lueders put out the call for volunteers. Dozens of parents answered the call on April 19 to get the ball rolling.

Conifer High School needs a strong Boosters' Club and the ability to raise the funds needed to keep programs going and growing. In the fall of 2007 there will be 20 different sports online for the year. Boys and girls alike will have ample opportunities to get involved if athletics is their interest.

Why do we need C.L.U.B.?
Limited funds are allocated by Jefferson County Public Schools to support school athletics, but fall far short of what teams need to sustain their programs. Most people don't realize that teams need to fund their own uniforms and sports equipment, the majority of costs for improving and maintaining sports facilities and the major portion of transportation expenses. Fees athletes pay to participate in sports go directly to the school district. Individual schools do not have adequate budgets to sustain athletic programs without help from the community.
You can make a difference.

There are numerous opportunities to get involved in the C.L.U.B. If serving on a committee is not for you, perhaps simply purchasing an individual, family or corporate C.L.U.B. membership is the answer to getting involved. Of course, we all win when everyone attends games and matches to cheer for our teams.

Please accept this invitation to become part of a truly dynamic organization with a goal of not just building a local stadium and funding scoreboards, but building community through athletics!

For more information, please contact me at 303-697-0201 or Jeff Lueders at 303-982-5347.

Sincerely,
Gary Aron
President, C.L.U.B.

2007-08 C.L.U.B. Board Members
Gary Aron, Elisa Castro, George Eddy, Jan Glasoe, Mary Hastings, LeiLani Hines,
Connie Lines, David Linn, Jeff Lueders, Rhea Mizner, Kate Mohrman,
Jennifer Thompson and Carol Way
