Grizzly Chrobak finished a career-best 22nd at CSM

Kersey records day's only eagle

On April 10Freshman Jason Chrobak (Fairplay, Colo.) fired his best round of the spring season and finished a new career-best 22nd at the Colorado School of Mines Invitational, which concluded withApril 10third and final trip around the 6,573-yard par 72 Fort Morgan Golf Course. Chrobak finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 232, just 16 strokes over par.

On April 9 Adams State College freshman Jason Chrobak (Fairplay, Colo.) and senior Chad Kersey (Colorado City, Colo.) fared well. Chrobak carded rounds of 79 and 77 on the 6,573-yard par 72 course and is on pace to record a new career-best finish. The Summit County High School graduate stands in a 6-golfer logjam for 20th place at 12-over 156. He finished in a 28th place tie at last week's Regis/Colorado Mines Invitational, his previous best finish.

Kersey recorded the day's only eagle and is in 26th place at 157 (+13) after firing rounds of 80 and 77. His eagle came during the second round on the 326-yar par 4 first hole.

Chrobak was in a 26th place tie after the first round while Kersey moved up from a 30th place tie after the first 18 holes.

Colorado State-Pueblo's Andrew Hedrick leads a tight leader board after firing rounds of 71 and 70. Standing at 3-under 141, Hedrick leads Regis' Chris Sylvia, who carded identical scores of 71, by just one shot. Fort Lewis' Eric Trujillo is just two behind Hedrick at 1-under 143.

The team chase is just as tight. Hedrick's squad leads Nebraska-Kearney by one shot. Regis is just three shots behind The Pack. CSU-Pueblo, which has three players in the top nine, one of which is tied with Brees, recorded 4-player team scores of 293 and 300 and stand at 593 (+17) while the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers fired identical rounds of 297, good for a 2-round score of 594 (+18). The Lopers have two players in the top five and four in the top 10 of the 7-team, 41-player field. Regis, which won last week's tournament by 23 shots, has three players in the top 10. They were in second place, just one shot behind the ThunderWolves after the first round before falling back slightly with a 302 in the second round.
