Blog Entry 30 of 100 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

A cold for Christmas
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 12/27/2006

For the past few years, spending time with my family during the holidays has been extra important. Mainly because my mother visits my dad, brother and me every six months of the year due to her job as president of Harris Memorial College in the Philippines. My mom is able to have a long vacation, however, since she spends about three weeks with us before she has to fly back overseas.

The holidays haven't really been the same because we're all so busy with our own lives now. I live in Denver while my dad and brother live in Colorado Springs. And with my mom being 10,000 miles away, family time is scarce and precious.

This year, Christmas would have been good, if it weren't for the fact I was stricken with a cold. Every muscle on my body ached, making me feel like I was just rammed by a semi. I kept getting hot and cold flashes and dizzy spells. I was not a happy camper.

Fortunately, my brother bought me Nyquil and I was able to sleep at night. I wasn't totally cured by Christmas morning, but I was chipper enough to enjoy the day with my family and have a delicious meal. I got new pants, though I didn't get a digital camera like I wanted. I also ate a lot of cookies, which may prevent me from fitting into these brand new pants. But that will be another blog.

But I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family, friends and loved ones. Share your story and some photos with us at YourHub.com. I'd love to read all about it.

Bummer about your cold, but how great that you were with family! My brother has never brought me Nyquil, and he is a Doctor. Happy New Year kiddo!!!
