Blog Entry 20 of 83 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

The Loft it is!
Contributed by: Fairlight Baer/YourHub.com   on 2/8/2007

Congratulations to John Svoboda, of Denver, for making what looks to be a perfect recommendation for where I should go dancing on my birthday.

The Omaha native suggested The Loft at 22nd & Champa in downtown Denver for an evening of fun, so that's where my crew is headed this Saturday.

I knew John had to be cool when he said "ciao" on his voicemail greeting, and I was right.

He's on the staff with DanceMusicBoard.net, which is celebrating its second anniversary at The Loft on Feb. 10 (the DMB founder also will be celebrating a birthday then). John helps promote DMB and club events and plans to be working the door at The Loft on Saturday.

In Rocky Mountain News 5 Questions style, I got John to tell me a bit about himself. Responses were edited for space and clarity.

1. How long have you lived in Denver? 8 years

2. Do you drink? What is your favorite drink?Crown & Coke

3. What is your favorite or most-hated pick-up line? I don't really have one. (Good answer, John.)

4. Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day? I'm single, so it will probably be a group thing.

5. Is there a key accessory or item of clothing you wear for a fun night out? It would have to be my Pabst Blue Ribbon armband or my aviator glasses. (Awesome answer, John.)

So, look for the dude in the PBR attire or shades this weekend to see if you'd like to change his answer to No. 4. I'll surely be rockin' glitter of some sort.

Feb. 10. The Loft. Shake ya moneymaka.

John will be coming by YourHub.com World Headquarters in a few days to pick up the $100 Larimer Square gift certificate I put up for grabs last week.

Thanks to everyone else who posted suggestions. If you wear aviator glasses at night or are otherwise cool like John, you should start a nightlife blog here.

I've never been to The Loft. But I heard it is a lot of fun. Maybe I should try to go down there sometime.

The Loft is great. They held a Martini Mixer fundraiser for Art from Ashes last year.

Maybe I'll have to make an appearance this weekend at The Loft. Never been there before, but I heard from several coworkers that it's awesome.
