Eddie Murphy, known for
Saturday Night Live,
The Nutty Professor and
Denying That He Knocked Up Scary Spice (wait, maybe that last one shouldn't be italicized) is filming an honest-to-goodness Hollywood movie right here in Denver. (
link) The film will be the first big-budget flick to be shot in Denver in a long, long time, thanks to the state's lack of incentives for filmmakers.
While we all wait breathlessly for The Murph to hit the Mile High City, you can catch a genuine, for-real feature-length film being shot on the streets of Denver by homegrown filmmaker and local hero (at least in the YourHub.com office)
Jamin Winans. The film, titled
Ink, follows a man through a surreal, dreamlike adventure through, at least in part, downtown Denver.
Ruth Vandevanter, a student visiting Denver, wandered past the set last week and got cast as an extra on the spot. Luckily, she's a great journalist, too, and sat down with Jamin for an interview. (

Super-special extra bonus: YourHub.com journalist John Zwick caught up with Jamin last year on the heels of his uberpopular short film Spin, filmed near Confluence Park. (link)
And because you can't get enough Colorado movie news, a Highlands Ranch duo just completed work on a feature-length film of their own, filmed almost entirely in and around H. Ranch. It's called
Terminal Velocity and yes, they are aware of the
Charlie Sheen movie of the same name. (

On a more serious note
, CSAP scores were released yesterday and, well, Denver Public Schools didn't have the banner year most in the city were hoping for. (
link) But, proving you can't judge a school system by its basic test scores, several schools in north and west Denver have bucked trends and are pushing some serious progress (
link). Do you know of a school that's just busting with positive news? Tell us about it. Click
here to post your own story, or give me a call at 303-954-2615 or shoot me an e-mail at

That's it for today, Denver, but you can always tell me what's on your mind by leaving a comment below or using any of that contact information I just gave you.
