Blog Entry 87 of 87 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the former editor of YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Thank you and goodbye

Barbara Neff, William Bond, Julie Patterson, Joe McDaniel, Carol Forbes, Karin Malchow, Michael Rule, Gregory Liptak, Gladys Mercier, Richard Gardner, Nikki Britain, Jonathan Lack and William Boucher. This baker's dozen of YourHub.com contributors and thousands of others are to be thanked for regularly sharing news, photos, reviews and musings on the Web site - your Web site.

More than 44,000 of you have joined the site to make it yours since we launched in spring 2005. Without our users, YourHub.com would not exist. This is an obvious fact, but one worth acknowledging. Sure, not all of the users are active on the site, but many who are keep their neighbors informed, draw laughs (or the occasional tears) and even spark debates.

In the last 3 1/2 years, YourHub has evolved. We added blogging and classifieds, the HubCap roundup of the best new submissions, the Mile High Happenings event roundup and many other features online. Last fall, we redesigned our 18 zoned print editions. We sometimes receive complaints about what shows up in those sections - or rather what doesn't. Unfortunately, we simply can't fit into the sections all the content you enjoy.

Part of our mission is to ensure each page is, among other things, useful, interesting and about people. That means we try to giveprint readersa sampling of community news, event listings, commentary and photos that are posted on the Web site each week. Those who visit YourHub.com see there's a lot more to enjoy.

YourHub.com is planning many exciting changes online and continues to have total commitment from the staff and Rocky Mountain News publisher John Temple.

I have decided to leave YourHub for an exciting opportunity at another Web site. Nov. 6 is my last day.

I hold dear the challenges and fun our staff has faced since even before we launched. I've gotten a kick out of meeting many of you in the flesh and becoming friends. It has been a pleasure and honor to peek into your lives, learn more about the communities in our metro area and see many of you rekindle your writing hobbies.

Managing editor Eric Lubbers is taking over. He's been here since the early days, and his small town upbringing and technology obsession suit him very well for his work here.

With warm regards, I'll see you around.

Fairlight, thank you. I am honored to be among the YourHub.com baker's dozen. You have been wonderful these past three years. I wish you all the best over there with Travis, though Yourhub.com will surely be different without you.

Fairlight, we appreciate the work you've done at YourHub.com. I think of the luncheon two years ago when you were the first staff member who introduced yourself to me. Overcome with social anxiety, I had no idea what I was doing there or online. Most of the time I still don't. But you have always been kind enough not to notice.

Thank you. YourHub has been a very good site and this must be at least partly because of your skills.

Missing you already. Tell Ernie cheers from me.
