Way back when there was a financial crunch at Denver General and the city of Denver, it was decided (by the administrators) that most departments should be forced to take 5 days off at no pay to help the balance sheet. The overworked and understaffed Orthopedic department (I worked right next to them in the hospital) had to take 5 days off like everyone else. But (the administrators) decided that administrators were "essential people", and so they didn't take any no-pay days off. When the government gets into providing medical care this medicine by bureaucrats and administrators will increase. So, if you break a hip and need help, I guess you'll need to call on an administrator to do the surgery.
