The administration is considering Trade With Cuba.
I am against this. I think it would be very disruptive to transplant Obama, Pelosi, Kennedy etc. to Cuba and to bring Fidel and Raúl here to govern us.
This is a bad idea. Although the two governments may see eye-to-eye on many things, I think it would be terribly disruptive to sandwich a large government like ours into Havana. And then, who would own Gitmo? Why exchange failing car manufacturers for failing cars? Our prisons are already overcrowded; and it would be a disaster to shove hundreds of thousands more into them because these people had an unauthorized book in their homes?
Would we have to switch to Cuban and other Latin American Music? What if our national anthem were changed to Reggae? Would we have to learn the Samba, Rumba, Merengue, Bolero, Yoruba, Flamenco, Tango?
Would the Cuban group approve of all our Puerto Rican Cab Drivers? We know little about the prejudices south of our borders. Where would Cuban cigars be made?
Let us jettison this idea. No es fácil. (It isn't easy). Let us gringos remain yumas.
¡Olé!
