I think about a lot of things. I have opinions about most. What good are thoughts and opinions when not shared? I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours. Issues surrounding education interest me, particularly those pertaining to private education, corporal punishment in schools (still legal in about half the states), standardized testing, background scrutinization of adults seeking work in schools, and more. I promote fitness as the miracle drug most of us seek. No pill will duplicate the health benefits of working our bodies. I strongly support the adage, "Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die." The world does not need more puppies or kittens. A visit to a local shelter is proof. I consider myself schooled in basic personal money management, the entrepreneurial spirit, domestic adoption, motherood in middle age, Baby Boomer issues, Southern culture, and how to cook a meal in twenty minutes. Whew. So, where shall we start?

Castle Pines Village Samaritans say let it snow!

I have never seen a group of neighbors pull together the way the neighbors on all sides of us do in Castle Pines Village.

This morning we were rallied early by a couple in our cul-de-sac, Barbara and Larry Bundy. They also recruited neighbors Lori and Grant Miller. My husband, Kevin, and I worked as part of this group of six with shovels and two snow blowers to get six driveways cleared. Lori Miller flagged a passing snow plow driver and practically begged him to plow up the street we share. The snow plow's wheels spun in the process. But, after several "running starts", the plow made it up our hill.

One of the driveways we cleared today, in addition to our own, belongs to a neighbor at home with her two daughters. Her husband is stuck out of town. One of the driveways belongs to a neighbor at the hospital today released and ready to come home. But, without the driveway cleared she and her husband could not get to their house. Now they can.

Our backs are sore. Our hands and forearms are weak from over-exertion. But what a great workout our spirits got today.

Let it snow!

My neighbor, Barbara Bundy, came down to tell me she enjoyed this story. But, with hands on hips she asked, "Where's the part about you having to shower and put on lip gloss before shoveling?" Guess I forgot that part, Barbara.

This is outstanding. Thank you for doing this for your neighbors.

You're one of the good ones Barb.
