Standing on my own two feet at Eldora

Businesses, roads, public transit, and the airportmay have shut down yesterday, but the lifts were spinning at Eldora. With 24 inches of fresh snow, the phrase "stand on your own two feet" took on a completely different meaning.

I spent the morning walking around the city, checking out the snow before it was marred by foot traffic and automobile. I boosted the Karma a little bit by pushing a BMW (sports package) out of the intersection by Pete's Kitchen on Colfax, then proceeded to help a neighbor out of his parking spot before pouncing on my buried truck. After an hour I had the truck out. It didn't help that I was pinched tight on either side of my parallel spot. I wanted to smash those two cars so bad! "There's two feet of snow at Eldora! Let me out of here," is all I could think.

I grabbed my friend Jen and off we went. From Denver to Eldora, we probably passed 50 cars, trucks, and RTD busses stuck from the night before. The best part was seeing a Hummer stuck in the middle of Highway 36 and some guy in a Ford Escort pulled over taking photos of it. Awesome.

The other best part was two feet of snow. It was so deep you had to go steep if you didn't want to stop mid run. I didn't get there until noon or so, but there was still some good stuff left. I hit the trees for some of the best riding I've done in four years. Waist deep. Face shots. Yesterday was one for the books.

You have a lot of pent up agression. Glad you took it out on the slopes!

This is not cool.
