Blog Entry 67 of 158 Computing and you!
What's going on in computing, why it's important to master the productivity software on your computer and how to harness the power your computer provides you at work and in your home.

A "Cool Hand" remembered
Contributed by: John Scherer   on 9/30/2008

Ok, I digress from computer talk to share some thoughts on the passing of Paul Newman.

It has been so good to read and hear the praised being sung about this true superstar, in life and on film.

The real measures of his success is the same things were being said about him when he was alive.

As a film actor, he had no equal. He could play cad, to con man to charming rogue. That smile and blue eyes lit up the screen.

He founded Newman's Own, a food company that generated hundreds of millions of dollars for charity.

Hooked on racing since starring in Winning, he was winning races at the age of 70 as a driver, and won over a hundred races as a team owner.

He was too big for Hollywood so he lived across the country instead. And was married to the same lovely lady for over 50 years.

He will live on forever, his movies will be watched by generations born after he left us.

"Star" is way over-used in Tinseltown. But in the case of Paul Newman, it is a well-deserved title.

Paul Newman. A "Cool Hand" forever.
