Gogol Bordello will soon shake Denver
Contributed by: Live Nation   on 1/22/2008

Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello will soon be rocking The Fillmore in Denver. Whether you've witnessed their live madness or not, you'll be a fool to miss a show that makes you stomp, jump, clap and take one glance at the stranger next to you and, well, dosie doe. All the details below:

Live Nation proudly presents GOGOL BORDELLO at the Fillmore Auditorium on Friday, March 7. Special Guests TBA will open the show. Showtime is 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Combining elements of punk, gypsy music, and Brecht-ian cabaret, Gogol Bordello tells the story of New York's immigrant diaspora through debauchery, humor, and surreal costumes. After being evacuated to Western Ukraine in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster, leader and singer Eugene Hütz became enamored of the mystical, outsider qualities of gypsy music.

After arriving in New York, he teamed up with musicians and crafted Gogol Bordello's bizarre stage shows. The group's early gigs involved playing straight gypsy music at Russian weddings, but their music soon evolved into the hyper-kinetic explosions that earned them a solid following amongst New York's downtown hipsters.

Gogol Bordello is touring in support of their latest release, SUPER TARANTA!

"Gogol Bordello is going to conquer the world," boasts Eugene Hutz, Gogol bandleader and agent provocateur. "Everything on the album is taken to the next level. It's more direct, more abstract, more focused, with more dark humor. The dub parts are deeper; the fast parts are faster, its pure orgasmo hysteria."

Gogol Bordello has been breaking down musical barriers since 1999 with a supercharged music based on a brutal gypsy two step rhythm that sounds like an Eastern European cousin of ska, augmented by punk, metal, rap, flamenco, roots reggae, Italian spaghetti, Western twang, dub and other sounds generated by gypsies and rebels from across the globe. Their trans-global rebel rock is based on the belief that music and art can transform negative energy to positive and inspire individual action.
