Blog Entry 82 of 83 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

People's Fair 2008 music lineup announced
Contributed by: Fairlight Baer-Gutierrez/YH   on 5/14/2008

Are you ready to rock? It appears the People's Fair organizers are because they just announced the music lineup for the June 7 and 8 event.

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods staff selected performers for the annual event from the top scorers at the Ultimate Music Xperience auditions as well as from talent who played the People's Fair last year, CHUN's Andrea Furness told me.

During my few-hour stop at the two-day UMX at Bender's Tavern in March, I saw a couple talented acts, but found the segment of '08 auditions to be heavy in '80s cover bands.

My advice it to make it to the fair's main stage in the evening June 7, when Mojambus takes the stage. You may be tempted to liken lead Jason Downing to James Brown, Mick Jagger or Chris Robinson, but don't. You'll see. Also on Saturday, you can check out remember may, who I raved about last year, and Nicole Torres and the Affiliates, who have enjoyed some buzz.

I wouldn't blame you for not stopping at the Miller Lite Stage, where Burgandy Brown will play, around 4:50 p.m. the same day. The woman has pipes, but she wastes them on lyrics including "I can't quit you," "what goes around comes around," "can't take what you dish out," "people don't change overnight" and other cliché refrains of our time.

The complete lineup Andrea shared with me is below. If you're in a band, make sure to post your gigs on our new hub, yourhub.com/nights. If you have ears and can string a few sentences together, we like music reviews too.

This is totally unrelated to the People's Fair, but I was just browsing yourhub.com and came across your name and I said, "Hey! I used to work with her!" You may or not remember me, but I was the office manager at the T-C four+ years ago. Anyway, I've been blogging for over three years now, but this is my first time I've come across yourhub.com. Just wanted to say hi. :) Hope life is treating you well. Amy
