Charmaine in the city
I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on
Brendan's List.
Rock on!

So, here we are, coming up to the middle of May. This month, graduating seniors from area high schools will be receiving their diplomas and starting a new chapter in their lives. These students will sure have lots of "senior moments" to share.
My high school graduation was eight years ago. I still can't believe how much time has passed since then. It's already time for my high school reunion! I graduated in 2000 from Center High School, which is located in the San Luis Valley. I attended a small high school, about 150 students from grades 9 to 12.
My graduating class was big at 29 seniors. I was salutatorian and I had to give a speech in front of my class and the entire town. No joke -- it was really the entire town that came out for the ceremony. It was a wonderful day, filled with laughter, tears and memories. I still try to keep up with a few of my friends from school, but nowadays, we are all so busy.
In 2002, I had another graduation, this time from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. Cottey is a two-year, all-women's school and I received my associates degree in arts. I came back home to attend the University of Denver for my junior and senior years and in 2004, I graduated with my bachelor's in journalism and English.
Lots of graduations. Lots of photos. Lots of stories and memories.
We're running two special graduation issues for May 22 and May 29. We're going to be filling those sections with lists of graduates plus milestones and photos. But I need your help! I'd love to feature your daughter or son online and in print. If your kid is an all-star in school, don't be shy and post their achievements online! They could end up in our special sections.
And if you need help posting or using our site, give me a call at 303-954-2465 or e-mail robledoc@yourhub.com.

Oh, I still remember graduation. Nothing in High School completely prepares a student for life afterward. College is not the same, the business world is not the same, and, since most turn 18 before graduating, the law is not the same. Graduation from High School certainly is a big step in life.

I am having many "senior moments". However, they are not the high school senior type moments.
