Blog Entry 64 of 119 Gladys Mercier, Arvada.
I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native. My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

Blue Ridge country is blue.

My fried Iva and I went to Roanoke, Virginia about 3 years ago to visit a dear friend.
We found a very beautiful city and surroundings. We were taken on a drive on the Blue Ridge Highway above Roanaoke and really enjoyed the beauty of the area, the green grass, the ornamental pear trees in bloom.
Yesterday, I was reminded of that peaceful trip and the time we spent there. Just 30 miles away, violence erupted.
Things can change so quickly. One person with a heart full of anger can cause so much heart ache for so many people, all of those who lost their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends.
Imagine being in a classroom where you and 3 other students were the only ones not shot. Will this young woman ever be able to erase this image from her mind? She played dead to keep from being killed.
My heart aches for all of them, the wounded both physically and mentally.
I wish there was a way to stop this violence in our great country.
As our president said at the school today, " do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" Romans 12:21

My heart also goes out to those students and their families and friends. I hope someday Virginia Tech will once again being known more for their engineering programs and football than for this tragic, terrible act. Great blog, Gladys.
