Blog Entry 90 of 95 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

Not too fast, not too furious

So last night, March 27, Damon took me to the Denver International Auto Show at the Convention Center. Since he works at Go Nissan, the company gave him complimentary admission. I have to say, going to the show made me wish for a new car. Or maybe it was because everything was so shiny.

I'm not big into cars or have any knowledge of models, styles and torque. But it was cool seeing the latest from Porsche, Lamborghini, Toyota, Subaru and the like. They even had vintage and race cars on display. Some cars you couldn't touch, but there were others you can sit in and check out the interior. And yes, they did have "models" showing off the cars, though not as bikini-clad as some car shows I've seen on TV.

My favorite cars were from Toyota and Honda. What can I say? I gravitate more to the types of cars I can actually drive. And they were more in my price range. The best part was seeing some of the souped-up vans and buses. The kinds of buses and vans Hugh Hefner might use on day trips.

The auto show runs through this weekend, so you should check it out. For more information, click here.

I opted for Auto Shop in high school instead of Home Ec (which would probably explain my lack of domestic skills...) but I'm with Tom, I can't go to these shows without suffering from "I Want That, I Want That, I Want That" disease. The other day I parked near someone's beautiful Maserati and I, too, was tempted to touch it until I remembered it retailed for more than the price of my house.

I don't go because I don't want to suffer through the new car bug.
