I'm a slow burn that needs repeated readings. If you're a fan of my work, I'll send you a dollar, because I'm not above bribery to keep you coming back for more. Thank you...

Epilogue
Contributed by: paul hughes   on 12/19/2007

Fit for a movie.

Terribly true.

A funny little oddity as all get out

The tale of MGG and CPD is one that began 6 years and 7 months ago. Their beginning was in no way a peculiarity. Their beginning inauguration was in fact, one that could possibly be the beginning origin for someone else's story... at a hostess stand in a hotel restaurant in a sleepy little town that some people make fun of, Colorado Springs, Co. It's a beginning that was in no way queer, out-of-the-way, idiosyncratic, aired out or offbeat. It's was a quaint beginning, standard issue really-- butterflies and euphoria. Their beginning, to the parties involved, was the new found glory that both may not have considered when the day began, but as their terribly ordinary night ended, it was one that both parties felt was quite simply...essential.

The funny thing about beginnings though is they tend to have endings. If you reference back to my previous statement; their beginning was in no way peculiar. The MGG and CPD beginning ends 5 months in. MGG, firmly planted in a location that does not contain CPD, writes a letter to say goodbye. It's a goodbye that carried no notion of being reneged upon. Goodbyes, as you may painfully be aware of, are meant to be forever.

But as that one song says, * " sweetheart, bitter heart; now I can't tell you apart, cozy andcold, put the cart before the horse". It's that cherished nugget of information that can lead us to safely down the correct fork in the road. People change, people become wiser, and people realize that cherished things were cherished for a reason. That previously installed goodbye? Well, it was put into permanent hiatus...reneged upon if you will.

Here's where the peculiar does come into play. These two people, these two rather innocuous people, swimming in the crowded pool of the insipid, were somehow, rather innocuously, developing what some circles simply call a curse.

Let's jump forward a bit...

2006-whatever day it is now. The story of MGG and CPD find them living in the same city. CPD's living situation has him in one borough; MGG finds herself in another. Both are separated easily enough, by a river. Excitement and Euphoria become the words of the day. Plans are made, teeth are brushed, showers are taken, and a new beginning is just around the corner.

But lest we forget, their simple innocuous nature somehow, for reasons unknown, developed a curse. What kind of curse you ask? Well, it goes by no name, but know this, it's a haughty little ( censored) and it came to play. The insolent nature of their curse was, until CPD and MGG came along, only known all too well by people of a certain damaged stature. A broken foot, a broken father, a 'temporary move' out to the land of 49ers and Beverly, and foreign country solitude brought upon by pikers and thieves come to wreck the very thing these two people were looking for...a new beginning. Its legend stews in the minds of only the select few. There is also the saying that legends are meant to grow.

People tend to call it a day when they feel that some things were never meant to be. Curse 1, cursed people=0. But if that was the angle I was running well then this story would have its epilogue. Foolish thoughts...

Morse code, brail, double speak, hand gestures, and translators are discussed. The curse must not know what is being planned. You must always box clever against those who are out to get you.

A remote location, one with innocuous solitude, and one that no curse can find, will be discussed, but the talk will be of a flippant nature. It is agreed upon that who ever talks of travel will not invite the other, but it's assumed they will meet in this place, flippantly of course.

The 'make up for lost time accord' is met with unanimous praise and when these two seemingly innocuous people finally see each, it will be as if the weight of the world was lifted off of their quaint yet sturdy little shoulders.

This meeting will create co-dependency and require leashes. It's been discussed in some circles that when MGG and CPD meet, the thought of having to go another round with the curse may be too much for anyone to handle. So they will not leave each others sides. Leashes used by mothers to keep tabs on the children will be bought.

The conversation to be had between these two is one that will not embolden others to quote. But it will be that face to face conversation and its talk of victory over other worldly powers that will inspire, two innocuous people, to quote for years and years to come. It will be an epilogue that is not an ending, because the end is only the beginning.

All luck wished upon the getting of wants should be given to these two. It just might end up being the greatest story ever told.

Your Friend,

Paul Hughes

* Yes I, very sadly so, did indeed quote from the Feist song 1,2,3,4. I'm sorry. I completely sold out my scene to the iPod lady
