Blog Entry 21 of 182 Bad Mom
I call myself Bad Mom because at the time I came up with it, I was learning about the assumptions we put behind our words. I was following the pattern of not believing that my kids are okay, and speaking to them from that basis. I changed that, and it made a big difference. I am from Utah and my people are still living there. My husband was in the Air Force and we rattled around until we saw Colorado, and we stuck.

5 mile walk does the trick
Contributed by: Lisa Arata   on 10/23/2007

Neurotic self-absorption.

Yesterday the topic was loneliness and the sort of spiraling thinking that can sink you down into doing something stupid.

I proscribed a long walk and some girlfriend-talk.

It did the job. By the afternoon I functioned so much better. And that is a good thing because, while I am a narcissistic person, at least I know that doesn't really help the world and I try to be the kind of person who will value others and listen to their stories. Doing something more positive is good for all involved.
