Different Rhymes for Different Times
Pretty much just some street-type rhymin' goin' on here. Some rhymes might have proper grammar, but most of 'em probably won't. Nothin' fancy. Kinda just however I'm feelin' at any given time. Sometimes there'll be an explanation for the rhyme, sometimes there won't be. Not a whole lot of words endin' in the letter "g". Hopefully nobody ever gets offended by anything I write. That is definitely not my intention. Just kinda writin' out my feelings in rhyme, that's all.

Happy Father's Day!!! A little bit Hallmark(TM)-ish, but it's what came out. And if you're a single mom, this is for you, too. Double.
If you're there right now and it's where you've always been
brushing their teeth, or tucking 'em in
Reading books in rocking chairs
singing lullabies or saying prayers
Changing diapers or giving baths
teaching 'em how choices can alter their paths
If you're doing flashcards or ABC's
or giving advice about the birds and the bees
Watching with pride as they give a presentation
or just caught up in conversation
Teaching 'em the capital of Texas is Austin
or telling 'em not to worry 'cause game six is in Boston
If you've spent the day baby-proofing the house
or ran towards the shriek from their first field-mouse
If you've been outside all day and played
or been inside learning how to braid
Watched and listened as they played their guitar
or put a whole dollar into the swear jar
Holding their hand across the street
Teaching 'em to offer a lady a seat
If you're giving 'em allowance for doing their chores
if you're scolding 'em for never pushing in their drawers
If you're teaching 'em how to tie their little shoes
or the old "It doesn't matter if you win or lose"
If you're listening to one of their fairy-tales
or letting 'em paint your fingernails
Putting 'em in time-out for throwing rocks
or with 'em at the gym as they're learning to box
Sending 'em a card overseas
trusting 'em, for the first time, with the car keys
Drawing pictures of your next vacation
Hearing about the break-up, and feeling the frustration
Putting a band-aid on a scraped-up knee
or hanging a tire from the backyard tree
It doesn't matter what you're doing and it doesn't matter where
They are always going to love you, just for being there
