Blog Entry 102 of 120 Bad Mom
I call myself Bad Mom because at the time I came up with it, I was learning about the assumptions we put behind our words. I was following the pattern of not believing that my kids are okay, and speaking to them from that basis. I changed that, and it made a big difference. I am from Utah and my people are still living there. My husband was in the Air Force and we rattled around until we saw Colorado, and we stuck.

Thoughts on a sunny day

My Civic Hybrid had a difficult time keeping enough "juice" today, as I was running the AC and the radio. Temperatures were in the hotsies and I was trying to drive conservatively as well, so the brakes weren't doing enough to recharge the battery level. So I shut everything off and opened the windows. It felt like an oven set to 'warm.' It ran fine with no battery level, but you could feel it firing on only a couple of its little tiny cylinders. It's probably got less than 90 horsepower. 36 mpg under hard conditions.

Oh yeah, and that reminds me. I was at a busy intersection when I saw a mouse on the concrete median. Cute little feller! It was looking for something in the road and went under a car. I saw it dart here and there a couple of times, then it went in front of the rear tire of the car in front of me, and the light changed. The next time I saw the mouse, he was completely crushed flat. His fur was still fresh looking, but...I didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified! I feel sad for his little life. I wonder where his life force went, when his body was crushed.

I've almost got my last-chance plants potted up. I found baskets on sale at the Bargain Box for a dime and just about shouted out loud. I'm sticking a bunch of 'em into each pot and then putting the pot into a basket, and they look cute, cute. I keep color and growth habit in mind. I'll be proud to sell them at the Farmer's Market but I better do it soon, or summer will be over.

I got paid for my work weeding the yard of some people who have moved and are selling their house. That puts me up to my goal. This time I'm not going to spend that goal money on anything but what will pay back a profit. Last year I think I spent it all on family shortfalls.

What do you think about this idea: Buy one of those high-intensity lamps and then, this fall, hire out the use of it to people who are getting Seasonal Affective Disorder? In fact, I'd like to do even more to help people with depression. I've thought it would be cool to have my own place, like a room off a bookstore, where I'd have the self-help books, some couches for rap groups, a coffee pot or some soda, and a place to know you're not alone. I'd call it "The Blue Wallow." LOL. No, something comforting. And productive.

I've got a book called "Change your brain, change your life,"By Daniel Amen. He says that the patterns behind our negative episodes are linked to areas of our brains, such as the limbic system. So, whether someone is doing thought loops, or feeling people are out to get her, or feeling like things have to be their way, there are specific answers in the form of positive working, nutritionand also medications.

A Balanced Diet:

If you've been eating too many sweets, that will throw your diet off balance.

Yououghta getsome chips or french fries to match the sweety-gooey with the salty-crunchy.

The sweetitude will leave you lacking in crunchitude.

Reason #1 I left Michigan; those long gray days of winter. Serious lack of sun there. Of course no one has any money in Michigan, so I'm not sure if your lightrental would go, but they could sure use it.I like the name "Blue Wallow"!
