This week I cooked dinner two times. I rarely cook dinner twice a month, so you can imagine how impressed I was with myself, marinating some salmon and cutting up a couple tomatoes.
Less than twelve hours later, I was rewarded for my domestic contribution.
About 6:45 this morning, I was listening to
KBCO like I usually do while I get ready and the daily Much Too Early for a Question Question segment began.
Apparently today is
Robin Williams ' 54th birthday, so deejay
Ginger asked for a listener to name two of the three movies for which Williams has been nominated for an Oscar. The winner would win tickets to see
Lyle Lovett and
The Subdudes on Sunday at
Red Rocks and a gift certificate to
Black-eyed Pea.
Hmmm... I really wasn't sure which movies to name, but I started dialing anyway. After the third redial, I figured someone had probably won, but I decided to try once more. No busy signal - a ring! Ginger soon answered the line and repeated the question. I responded, "How about
The Fisher King and
Dead Poets Society"?
She responded with supportive affirmation and told me she was surprised I didn't mention
Good Morning, Vietnam. Oh yeah.
Ginger told me I won and asked for my name! She didn't understand it the first time, so I offered my "like county fair and lightbulb" aid, and we proceeded on to contact information talk.
My thanks to Ginger and to Robin Williams'
parents for conceiving him on a day that would allow him to be born about 54 years prior to my dinner preparation marathon.
I'll be taking my man, the house chef, to the show.
