Have you ever seen those home videos people take of tornadoes and hurricanes heading straight for them? There's usually a little commentary from the camera-holder, and just before the lawn furniture starts getting whipped 40 feet into the air, they decide to bail, and the video cuts out. Then you look at whoever you happen to be watching TV with and say, "What an idiot," and they concur.

We're all smarter than that, aren't we? Well, where I come from, some of us aren't. Most folks in the Midwest will follow the tornado guidelines from the National Weather Service: Go to the basement or another interior room of your house, stay low and stay away from windows. Don't ever try to outrun a tornado in your car. Then there's the rest of us, who would never, ever try to outrun a tornado because we're chasing it. Or we just grab some beer and raincoats and hang out on the porch.

Of course, we don't encourage that type of behavior at YourHub.com, mostly because tornadoes aren't very common here in the metro area. But we're always looking for stories and photos about the weather, because everyone can relate to that. It's the lowest common denominator between cordial human beings. If you and I were alone in an elevator right now, our conversation would probably go something like this:

Me: Hi there.

You: Hello.

Me: Gonna be another scorcher today, huh?

You: Yup.
