Capitol Hill snow report
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 11/29/2006

Well, hopefully this means my neighbors will stop walking out onto their deck in the nude. Until April or so, anyway.

On Capitol Hill, the snow was still falling as of 8:34 a.m. this morning. It was cold enough for a stocking hat, but not cold enough to freeze boogers inside one's nose. Elementary school kids in Denver should still avoid sticking their tongues on metal poles, however.

People were taking it very easy on 13th Avenue and on 14th Avenue, making turns at 2 or 3 mph, not tailgating each other, and at times, making 14th Avenue a two-lane street instead of its normal three lanes. But some still talked on their cell phones while navigating the treacherous terrain.

Many sidewalks were actually shoveled, and a bit of slush and standing water gathered near curbs. I saw two hardy souls actually riding bikes.

Stay tuned. If the snow proves packable, I will be posting photos of the first snowman built on the 10th-floor terrace of the YourHub.com World Headquarters building.

Post your snow, snowman and snowball fight photos by clicking here. Note: YourHub.com does not condone the use of the old "rock inside the snowball" trick. However, we do condone the "throw one snowball up in the air and zing another snowball at your target's face while they're looking up" technique, even if you're just having a friendly snowball fight with your kids. Hey, life is hard. The earlier they learn that, the better off they'll be.

We used the iceball inside the snowball trick. The evidence melts.

I almost biffed it walking to the office this morning. And I used to live near that Office Depot on Pearl Street. That is all.

As for being nude, one has to measure the snow somehow. That being said, it is pretty cold out there. I saw a dog licking himself today, and his tongue stuck to his testicles.

Ah, the old "create a distraction" routine. I used to use the "your shoelace is untied" distraction to get in the first sucker punch in a fight, no Marquis of Queensbury rules in street fighting!
