I thought about calling my boss and saying I'd just work from home today, but I didn't. I saw quite a few people who did call in, though, while walking to work. They were stocking up for the blizzard at Argonaut Liquors on Colfax.

Well, what else are you going to do? Shovel? Nah. Not on Capitol Hill. Here's my shoveling report for today (just to be clear, I don't blame people for not clearing their sidewalks -- there's probably going to be another foot of snow by tonight):

People I saw shoveling on my 1 1/2-mile walk to work: 5 (plus one guy with a snowblower)

Approximate feet of cleared sidewalk I walked on, out of approximately 7900 total feet: 80

Other statistics:

People I saw riding bicycles: 1

Homeless guys I saw who were still out, holding signs: 1

Drivers I saw who had absolutely no idea how to operate their four-wheel drive vehicles up Capitol Hill: 1 (not the guy in the photo)

Times I wished I had cross-country skis for my walk to work: Approximately 27

Inches of snow Denver is expected to get, according to a CNN bulletin: 30

How mad my mother is going to be if my flight is cancelled and I don't make it home for Christmas: Immeasurable

If you're flying out of DIA today, your flight might be cancelled. My girlfriend was scheduled to get out of town at 7:30 tonight on a United flight, but will be staying in town for at least one more night. United has posted this page to help you figure out how to get out of town for the holidays.

According to DIA's Web site, the following airlines have announced cancellations:

United and United Express - 210 flights canceled after noon today.

Frontier - 32 flights canceled after 1:30 p.m.

Northwest - all flights today have been canceled.

American - all flights have been canceled today except for three arrivals and four departures.

Here's a list of school and business closings in the area.

Brendan, great report. I hope Mother Nature cooperates so you avoid the wrath of Mother Leonard.

I hope you make it home for Christmas, Brendan. I am also hoping the snow clears by this weekend so my drive to Colorado Springs won't be so harsh. And photo No. 9 made me giggle.
