Blog Entry 51 of 97 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

HubCap: It's the dog days of spring
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 5/9/2007

Dogs are like kids, only hairier.
For those sans children, the Highlands Ranch Community Association decided to put a new twist on "Bring Your Child to Work Day" and encouraged their employees to bring their dogs. Just as cute and slightly less noisy. ( link)

Watch out for those red lights.
Our very own Brendan Leonard follows and videotapes his friend, Nick, on his early morning bike commute to work in honor of Drive Less Denver. Let me tell you, after watching this video, Brendan makes biking with a camera strapped to his helmet look pretty easy. But stay in your lane there, buddy. ( link)

It's because she's "hot."
Littleton resident Jared Keller ponders about all the hubbub over Paris Hilton and how the heck she got famous in the first place. (I have two words for you: Internet video.) So, Jared says a national moratorium should be set for people who want to be famous but are actually talented. Hey, I can wash the dishes with my eyes closed standing on one leg. ( link)

Art at its coolest.
Remember Lincoln Logs? Those chunky logs you can build stuff with back in preschool? I used to make crazy cabins with them when I was younger. Well, this local artist decided to build a structure of biblical proportions by creating the Tower of Babel out of these little guys. And it is an actual tower. Wow. ( link)

Rock on.
Wendy Brache
reviews the Heaven and Hell Tour held in Broomfield on April 29. Aside from blowing her ears out and feeling a little out of place, Wendy said she's gained a new appreciation for metal. Just don't get sucked into those concert mosh pits, you'll never be found again. ( link)
