Blog Entry 53 of 97 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

HubCap: Honoring mom by breaking the law
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 5/14/2007

Just in time for Mother's Day.
A Longmont man is caught allegedly speeding at around 2 a.m. May 8, claiming to police that he was hurrying home to help his mom, who was having a seizure. A search of his car revealed an array of suspected drugs. I'm thinking those were merely things to "help" his mom with her seizures. ( link)

I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Centennial photographer Don Lewis captures what us Coloradans see on an almost daily basis: The random change in weather. This weekend's storm fluke was no different and he was able to take some gorgeous photos of sky and mountain. ( link)

Back when airplane food was good.
Castle Rock blogger Barbara Neff recalls the delicious cinnamon rolls passengers and crew used to have for early morning breakfast when she was a flight attendant for Frontier in the 1980s. Mmm, I can almost taste the gooey goodness at 10,000 feet. ( link)

Shoe drive was quite a feat.
Members of Meiklejohn Elementary's Mileage Club and student council collected 150 pairs of shoes to send over to African and Central American countries. The effort was in coordination with One World Running, a Boulder-based nonprofit. I just hope they deodorize those shoes before sending them overseas. ( link)
