This page is not about the "legality" of the income tax. I'll leave that to other sites. This is about the necessity of taxing income on individuals and corporations.
The Federal Government has the right to collect taxes any way it sees fit, with the approval of
WE THE PEOPLE
..
This is about affecting the poor of our country and the working middle class, from lower to upper. Since minorities make up the majority of our poor, I thought it appropriate to address a minority group that in the past has had an outstanding record of non-violent protest to gain change.
Some of our courts have decided that taxing income IS an excise taxtherefore it is not a "direct tax" as defined by that court.
I don't know, but I do know that every day citizens are routinely prosecuted for not complying with a 64,000 page tax code.
That I do know because I have been one.
An IRS agent accused me of being unpatriotic. It was my patriotic DUTY to pay my income taxes although I had no income to pay it with.
I informed the agent, before hanging up on him that I was a multi tour Vietnam combat veteran that spent 8 years of my life serving my country, I didn't need him to tell me about patriotism.
My business had gone under due to the "spotted owl" fiasco in Northern California. I simply did not pay because I couldn't. I had called them and asked what to do. I had informed them that I was moving to Colorado and gave them the address and phone where they could contact me. That is a whole other story.
I know of people that have had their bank accounts "frozen" without warning because the IRS had gotten no response from a mail notification. They had moved and for some reason, because this NEVER happens, the mail didn't get to their new address. Wow.. imagine that..
The IRS had investigated their returns from 5 years previous and found that this couple had "underpaid"... wow.. again, imagine that?
Keep in mind that you have less than a 50% chance of being given correct information from the IRS according to their last audit by an independent auditing firm.
The IRS cannot be held responsible for misinformation by the way..
They had written their bills and all of their checks had bounced. They wound up a month behind on all of their bills and was awarded the appropriate penalties from each creditor + the bank charges of "insufficient funds"... whew, every shark out there gets there dues, eh?
Now these are good patriotic Democratic Party voters, not some "southern" or "cowboy", bible thumping right wing radical against the "constitutionality" of the Income Tax.
Got it?
We have over a 25% non-compliance rate. The IRS says about 16% but again, as usual, they don't count certain "circumstances".
Regardless of this estimate in numbers, the latest estimate by our GAO is that every taxpayer's taxes are raised by about $2,500 a year through non-compliance.
These are thetaxpayers that pay in.
There are millions that don't pay a thing and yet are purchasing air conditioned homes, condos (60%) and cars (80%). They have either satellite or cable (70%)and most likely have a web connection.Over 60% are overweight. Remind you of the "poor" in let's say, Africa, India, Mexico or Thailand? America is not a "mean" nation, giving over 50% of her wealth to entitlements.
We might be stupid, dumber than a bag of hammers sometimes, but we are not mean, or oppressive as a people or as a culture. We need not be embarrassed. We need no one to constantly brow beat us into thinking we are a mean, selfish country.
God requires only 10% tithe to the poor. Our government spends 56%?
This percentage of the "needy" that are purchasing homes, cars, cable television, are playing the system.
With it's inefficiencies apparent in every other aspect of government, why not here too?
Why not count these too as raising the taxes of all of us?
Fully 56% of our budget goes towards, "Social EntitlementPrograms".
Surely the best way to control government expenditures is to control their income.
You cannot with the current system. This is the crux. This is the pivotal point.
With a tax on consumable goods, we become very precious to our government instead of a people "lorded over" by unresponsive representatives.
Democracy is not once every 2 or 4 years. It's every day. Sorry... We looked the other way, and still do.. but there are times approaching..
We are contracting as a society. We must rebuild soon.
Counting the hidden taxes in everything we purchase, we are taxed at a rate of 35% to 40% of our income, depending again on who's counting.
This is not counted in the $2500. Hmm, I wonder why?
So be it or Amen... what ever you prefer
May God Bless,
Father O'Malley (the good padre)
