Ramsey arrest: Real big shocker, yeah, right

Sigh.

I didn't want to be right. I really didn't.

I wanted to look like an idiot - that I had no idea what I was talking about. I may still look like an idiot, but I knew exactly what I was talking about.

I have seen this before from the Boulder County District Attorney's Office and this is just par for the course.

I wrote a blog a week ago stating that I would proclaim Mary Lacy a law enforcement genius if John Mark Karr ended up being a viable suspect in JonBenet Ramsey's death.

Instead Boulder County District Attorney's Office looks silly once again and a case that once seemed practically unsolvable has now just turned more than cold - it's frozen.

Both a prosecutor and a defense attorney told me last week that if Karr wasn't the guy, his arrest only makes it that much more harder to catch the real killer.

Whether you believe the intruder theory or still feel the parents played some role, Monday's events are not good for the case.

The actions of the district attorney's office are laughable. Mary Lacy, Carolyn French and Lacy's defenders will put a nice spin on this story, saying there were reasons why the arrest had to be made and that the system worked just like it is supposed to.

Does anyone else feel like a character in The Emperor's New Clothes?


Sigh.

As Jeff Thomas said, if this was catch and release fishing we'd have to release him back in the waters where he came from.
