Super Tuesday...Ron Paul... Regan?
Contributed by: Kevin Johnson   on 2/1/2008

Well, Super Tuesday is fast approaching and the Democratic ticket has been narrowed down to two, while the Republican ticket is now minus a Giuliani. If you will recall a prediction I made a few weeks ago concerning Edwards realizing that the Dem ticket is a two person race and dropping out (which he did) and becoming Obama's running mate (which he will), I think it is only right that the doubters about my political prediction prowess send $2 to my Paypal account. But we can work out the details on that later. Right now the focus is on Super Tuesday...

As for the Democrats... If you can cast your lot with the Clinton/Clinton co-presidency ticket, you have more problems than being a sorry American and I hope you will get the mental help you need. However, if you plan on voting republican, which I'm sure at least a few of you will, I am going to make a case for Ron Paul and go back on what I said about Mike Huckabee being the only candidate for "change" on the right.

Ron Paul has become somewhat of a grassroots warrior. He has raised an ungodly sum of money for a man with little to no party or big money backing. Which is a shame, because he seems to be the only Republican candidate with any differing opinion, and because of this, gets little respect from those he is campaigning against, or from his own party for that matter.

It is sad to watch the "debates" and see Paul get blackballed time and time again, simply because Ron Paul continually tells it like it is. If you have watched him in the few debates when he is actually given any camera time, he answers questions from opponents and is then forced to sit with a bedazzled look on his face as his opponents retort to his from the gut, honest answers with rhetorical Bush-gibberish.

For example, the leading Republican candidates call for continuing the United States' unwavering financial support of Israel, while Ron Paul calls Israel the "stepchild of the USA". He asks why, if we are such allies with Israel, do we keep funding the Arab nations, who are Israel's enemy? He asks why our country continues to support Israel on a philosophical level and, more importantly, why are we doing it from a financial standpoint when the United States does not have the money to do this. He has called for the U.S. to cease all funding to Israel and Arab states. A valid point and the source of many of America's financial problems, but one that is brushed under the rug by every other candidate, Democrat and Republican alike.

Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who talks a "true conservative" game and has the voting record to back it up. He is for limited government interference and spending. He has campaigned to get the federal government out of the abortion decision and instead vows to leave it up to States to decide. He has said time and time again that the Federal War on Drugs is out of control and vows to revert control to the States. Paul has called for troops to withdraw from abroad because they do nothing to help our national defense, with the point that if we stop policing the world there would be no need for income tax.

Ron Paul voted against the war in Iraq because Iraq was not a national threat.
Ron Paul wants to get rid of income tax, the IRS and Government spending.
Ron Paul never voted to spend one penny of Social Security money.
Ron Paul Voted No on allowing electronic surveillance without a warrant.

I could go on, but why bother.

It is amazing to me that voters who consider themselves "conservative" have put John McCain and Mitt Romney in positions to secure the party nomination on February 5th. These two epitomize flip-flopping and take the standard "party stance" on any given issue for a party that has drifted so far to the right it makes Nazi Germany seem like Six Flags.

Ron Paul has been laughed at by his opponents for being a loathed "liberal" conservative. But even Stalin was a liberal compared to this group of fascists.

Vote for Ron Paul Colorado Conservatives, as he is the only hope America has for true conservatism: restricted government spending and interference and giving the States the power to decide; Thomas Jefferson conservatism; Constitutional conservatism; "win one for the Gipper" conservatism...

By the way, what is with all the Ronald Regan references during this campaign? Was this man some sort of god to these people? Have they forgotten who began the debacle that we call the "war on drugs"? The Iran-Contras? Grenada? The bombing of Libya? His slow response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and refusal to say the term "AIDS" in public until Rock Hudson died?

Save it for another week, Old Dog...

I agree, Kevin. The GOP no longer welcomes those who vote conservative candidates since Bush Jr. took office. The party is a fraction of its size since the Reagan years and all the money is now in Democratic offices. This will be the last year I'll be GOP member, with a write in for Ron Paul on Nov. 5th.

I actually registered here just to thank you for the courage to speak out. MSM has made me sick. I don't think Ron Paul should get special treatment, just fair treatment. You would probably like this article explaining why people should vote for Ron Paul. It explains some of the theories behind his economic and foreign policies and makes a hell of a lot of sense. My fiancee showed me but I showed a couple co-workers and they were converted by the time they finished reading it. http://www.oodora.com/life-stories/personal-commentary/why-you-should-vote-for-ron-paul.html

It amazing to me that it use to be free for citizens to turn their gold and silver into money, which increased the money supply as a wealth to the people. Compare that to now when dollars are created out of thin air and loaned into circulation as debt against future production, not exchanged into circulation as production performed. WTF!! money has been switched from an evidence of wealth to an evidence of debt. End the Fed Vote Ron Paul
